Not the Fyre Festival- One Love Festival Review

Hi there… I watched both documentaries of the Fyre Festival before I went to the One Love Reggae Festival last weekend. So my friend Xander and I found Fyre Fest relevance in everything. For example, it rained the night before we went to One Love and the turf was muddy and damped. The location was by the Queen Mary/ harbor, so it was a bit flooded. It reminded us of the Frye Festival documentary, the scene where it rained and flooded in those hurricane relief tents before the concert-goers arrived. I can’t believe people spent that much money on tickets … Continue reading Not the Fyre Festival- One Love Festival Review

I’m the real life Rory Gilmore

I recently snatched an internship with a news press as an arts and entertainment journalist. I know! Me, writing for the most well-known paper in my county. I feel like this writing career is kicking off and I’m in the race. I’m published too! I also begin drinking a lot of coffee, once a day.  I also turned twenty-three last week,  I’m pretty old. I mean I have been asked out by guys older than me lately. I wonder if it’s because I look older or because I’m wifey material. (wifey material: someone who is mature, smart, sophisticated, can carry an … Continue reading I’m the real life Rory Gilmore

Advice From a Writer to Whoever Wants It…

Hello friends, I am recovering from possibly one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time. I’m not the type of woman who finds herself at bars and clubs three nights in a row, I look like a librarian for goodness sake, but there I was doing the damn thing. How do people do it? Party three nights in a row like that? On a normal basis! That’s insane. Besides, one of my professors from school gave me advice on how to be a better a writer. Actually, it was a list of fourteen things.  Here are my … Continue reading Advice From a Writer to Whoever Wants It…

Are You There? It’s Me Kiki

Hi, friends, fans, and stalkers, I took a couple of months off from writing, particularly blogging. I had to take the time to evolve as a human being and a writer, mostly human being. The person who posted six months ago is not the same as the one writing this post right now. In fact, I’m officially a graduate student (youngest one in my cohort) and new front desk receptionist of my university. I also gained a whole new perspective on life and it’s pretty damn optimistic. You guys are probably excited to hear my two-sense on things and my … Continue reading Are You There? It’s Me Kiki

First Week of N.M.N: Why Am I Doing This Again?

The children at my work kept asking me why I wasn’t wearing makeup, which I responded to “I’m doing No Makeup November to show people you don’t need to wear makeup to feel pretty.” Great answer, but these past seven days I kept asking myself why am I doing this? I asked this especially when I walked into a work meeting and saw an attractive guy sitting across from me. Last week I thought the reason I’m doing this was to rebuild confidence, but now I’m doing this in regards to people battling body dysmorphia. What exactly is body dysmorphia? According to … Continue reading First Week of N.M.N: Why Am I Doing This Again?

Hire Me I’m Desperate, Maybe Not That Desperate

As a recent college graduate/ unemployed writer, I now live a life similar to a 65-year-old retired man who’s been trying different hobbies to fill the time in his day. It’s not that I haven’t been job searching, I think the reasons no one wants hire me is because: No experience. You have to know someone to get the job. There is hardly any jobs for writers at the moment, well in my location. I can’t move because I’m starting graduate school in the winter. I think that’s it. I’ve applied for every writing job there is in my area, … Continue reading Hire Me I’m Desperate, Maybe Not That Desperate
