Hi!!! I’m fresh out of my Outloud SB reading and I’m eager to tell you all the details now, but I have to post my creative writing work first. I’ll write about it sometime this week. Six years ago, I was in David Starkey’s Creative Writing class at Santa Barbara City College and we learned how to write “Prose Poems.” According to Poets.org, Prose Poems can appear as prose but reads like poetry. At nineteen, and even now at twenty-four, I often questioned whether American society was becoming more superficial. I wrote the prose poem “Holy Water,” envisioning god making … Continue reading *Holy Water (Poem) (2013)
Hi, So, I have millions of dreams that I want to achieve and they all involve writing and journalism. Some include: publishing my two short stories collections, writing for T.V, and becoming a news assignment editor. My dreams have shifted, but for about a year now, I’ve been thinking about becoming a sports journalist on top of everything else. The reason is: It’s a masculine career and I like to challenge the status quo. ALWAYS! I only watch one sport, baseball. I only root for one team, the Dodgers. Or in my best friend’s case, her … Continue reading A Social Media Love Story Except Not. Definitely Not.
As a recent college graduate/ unemployed writer, I now live a life similar to a 65-year-old retired man who’s been trying different hobbies to fill the time in his day. It’s not that I haven’t been job searching, I think the reasons no one wants hire me is because: No experience. You have to know someone to get the job. There is hardly any jobs for writers at the moment, well in my location. I can’t move because I’m starting graduate school in the winter. I think that’s it. I’ve applied for every writing job there is in my area, … Continue reading Hire Me I’m Desperate, Maybe Not That Desperate
Everyone who knows me can tell you that I am a hardcore Rebelution* fan. So when my friend told me that Rebelution’s lead singer Eric and drummer Wes were going to perform at M Special Brewery*, there was no question that I would be there. That day I read, wrote, hiked, and was looking forward to seeing half of Reb perform. At around 6:50ish my sister and I started getting ready. According to my friend, Curtis they were suppose to go on at 8pm, so when he texted us at 7 saying they started their set, I was furious at … Continue reading Miscommunication At Its Finest
